Chateau Clingman, Racine WI, West 6th St

Well as the UNIT said come nice weather, we would see fools park on the lots of the torn down homes yes we have, followed what we where told I.E. call the police and NOTHING!!!

Seems it’s O.K. to park on others property and the police in Racine are powerless to do anything.

Worse in this case the owner can’t be contacted for a no consent to trespass due to living in a nursing home not being competent could be quite the to do for this.

My Dad would have took a Baseball bat to the headlights but we will work with Law enforcement.

Mind you we would not care if next up be the Car owners changing oil doing work on cars dumping oil etc  making a huge mess not picking it up and I for one do not want Gas/Oil etc going into My Wood line or the Park.

Will be following up with the UNIT to see the status of the effort to prevent more parking. Looks like everyone over 18 owns at least one car some two or three our neighbors next door have 4 cars for three adults all together in the duplex has 8 cars for 6 adults and a two car driveway.

The ground is still frozen so nothing going on outside in the Garden area. Found the Seeds I still have left. Will put the Rabbit Pellets in the Compost, that should help with bettering that and perhaps add the pellets in the soil too a few weeks before planting.

1900, City of Racine, Racine Parks, Rootworks

As you may know, I found evidence of some type of path leading from my end of Jones St into the Park land below

I have talked to both Aldermen and the Parks department about this.

Mr. Mobeck (sp?) has come over and took what I call the .50 tour of the bottom of this path came out in the early 1900’s. Tom also shared information on the Root River at the point in runs by my home.

We were going to talk long before we manged to do so the City Budget hearings with the holidays managed to postpone this until last week.

To make a long story short he liked my idea about the City adding 233 Jones St to the Park below to help create a path from this area of West 6th St Racine to Clayton Park.

This would allow tho things:

1) A way for residents of this area to access the Park/Root River without having to walk 6+blocks for a way to do so.

2) This would help preserve the Woodline and the Park from fools who will use the lot at 233 Jones for car repairs dumping Oil Anti Freeze etc on the land causing run off that would effect the Park and the Root River.

Tom, will be presenting this idea to City of Racine Leadership very soon if not all ready.

The Rootworks project calls for more access to the Root River this sure does that.

Keep you posted

Chateau Clingman, Contractors, God, prayer, restoration, St Anthony, Wood working

This may be a strange post, after all we are told that we should not talk about God others may not like it, you may offend them or your lose readers.

Well to that I say Fuck off.

As I do like that others may read this blog and I hope are entertained by it.  Its far more about the strange road the quest has been.

So as you know the House had major issues to fix, many nights I could not sleep wondering how where the repairs going to get done the damaged restored with very little money.

Asking the “Crowd” for funds did not work well  some good ideas, great encouragement (a few Nasty messages) and lots of prayer, this may have been the best thing to have asked for.

So wife finds a contractor via Home Depo to help with the door door we want replaced, comes starts work and the more he does the more we like him!

Comes back to finish tells us of some issues with his work that we would have not noticed and offers to do the job for a huge discount due to his error. What? We have a very honest contractor? Stepping up to do the right thing??? WOW! Talking further we find he enjoys doing restoration for its not rushed and brings back Historic Homes!!!

More incredible, right now seeking more restoration so he can take his work less rushed and practice Old School woodworking.

Very very cool. WE found someone we can use for the long haul!

So the contractor will

Fix the Dry Wall issues from the Water Damage

Repair interior Water Damage

The Woodwork damaged  from  the Water Damage

in other words 80% of what is needed.

He will charge us of course but will also barter for things he needs that we can do for him! What may have cost 30K + we can get done for less. I will have to help him at times nothing wrong with that.

Best he is Catholic+ understands the Power of the Saints

Big thanks to St Anthony, Glory to God!

God heard my prayer, He has sent aid.

City of Racine, Home improvement, Maintenance repair and operations, West 6th St

This house two lots away to the North is not only behind on taxes but in need of mayor repair (note Tarp acting as a temp roof repair) this cant even be sold for 5K. Needs a new Roof, many busted windows a new Furnace the floor is rotting away. To my understanding the City of Racine is making no efforts to find the heirs of the Estate   after the owner died last year.

Repair orders are going to the mail box.

A sad story this house about a block away has been bought and some repairs have “started” A new Roof was added, then the City showed up and from what I understand the fees permits and fines has stoped any more repairs.

Now I was once was told by City of Racine staff that this home (walked away from in forecloser and repair orders many of them) would not be able to be sold but torn down I was shocked to see the new owner fixing it up/cleaning it out.  More shocked when others came to MY home to be sure that I was not dumping his garbage over my hill side.

From what I was told by the owner he simply went to the Bank holding the mortgage and paid cash for it . The Bank sold it as is (My guy kinda messed up not having a realtor to help him)

Well I believe there is a Octopus style furnace  in the Basement most likely with unsafe insulation issues that  would need to be changed out.

This house has had no heat for 2-3 years with a bad roof only just fixed who knows how badly damaged the home maybe inside add to that the critters now living back inside the home.

Be interesting if the new owner continues to pay taxes on the home or walks away from it.

I would hope that the City of Racine would want the houses fixed and folks living in them if only to get the taxes payed. Guess not.
